Welcome to NCDR

National Centre for Dispute Resolution (NCDR), formerly known as Karachi Centre for Dispute Resolution (KCDR), was established in February 2007 with the approval of the High Court of Sindh, and with the financial assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) - a World Bank Group.

It was founded under the patronage of the former Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Saiduzzaman Siddiqui.

The vision was to improve the business climate of Pakistan and reduce the burden on the judiciary, so that cases can be effectively delivered and to provide the people with an alternative - a time-efficient, cost-effective and strictly confidential way to resolve their disputes amicably. The Centre has given recommendations to the governments for the implementation of ADR in Pakistan.

It has also drafted the “Mediation Bill 2014” and submitted it to the Federal Government. The Centre also recommends amendments in the High Court Rules related to Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR).

About Our Founder

Chief Justice Saiduzzaman Siddiqui was a Pakistani jurist and legislator. Born in Lucknow on Dec 1, 1938, his family migrated to (then) East Pakistan. He acquired his early education from Dhaka, and then moved to Karachi, which was then the capital of Pakistan.

He was appointed a judge of the Sindh High Court in May 1980. He was further appointed as the Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan in 1985 and 1986. Ten years after being appointed judge of the Sindh High Court, he was appointed chief justice of the Sindh High Court and in May 1992 elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.

He served as the 15th Chief Justice of Pakistan, prior to which he was the 7th Chief Justice of the High Court. His tenure began on July 1, 1999, and ended on Jan 26, 2000.
