Women Cases In Karachi

In three mediation weeks held at the subordinate courts, NCDR resolved, by mediation, 53 out of a total of 74 cases involving women litigants thereby giving a success rate of 71.6%. Promotion of Communal Harmony and Religious Tolerance
Introducing Mediation to Religious Scholars
NCDR believes in communal harmony and religious tolerance by promoting peace and a collaborative culture among the people of Pakistan. For this reason it initiated a training program, free of cost, for 60 religious scholars at Darul Uloom Karachi. The total cost of the project amounted to PKR 809,300 which was borne by NCDR itself and thus 60 scholars were trained in mediation free of cost. The vision was to introduce an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanism among the scholars as they deal with the community at grass root levels. Instead of opting for a religious fatwa, priority should be given to resolution of dispute by mediation to promote communal harmony and religious tolerance.
Continuing Mediation Education for Religious Scholars
As part of continuing education in the art of mediation, NCDR also provided a free of cost one-day refresher course to 11 religious scholars of Jami’atur Rasheed. The training cost was PKR 70,000 which was borne by NCDR itself.
